This system contains state- and city-level data for over 100 measures of child well-being, including all the measures regularly used in our popular KIDS COUNT Data Book and The Right Start for America's Newborns. This easy-to-use, powerful online database allows you to generate custom reports for a geographic area (Profiles) or to compare areas on a topic (Ranking, Maps, and Line Graphs).

New and Updated Indicators

12/15/2008 The KIDS COUNT Data Center now includes 2005 city–level data for four key vital statistics indicators and the latest state–level data for 2–year olds who were immunized. Links to the indicators are listed below.
Infant mortality
Child deaths
Teen births, by Age Group
Teen deaths from all causes
2–year–olds who were immunized

09/29/2008 Youth Risk, Education, Employment and Income, and Population and Family Characteristics indicators have been updated using the 2007 American Community Survey Data and the Vintage 2007 Population Estimates. Indicators have been updated for the U.S., states, the District of Columbia and the 50 largest cities when data is available. Updated indicators include the following:
Teens not attending school and not working
Teens who are high school dropouts
Children under 6 with all available parents in the labor force
Child Population, by Single Age
Total Population, by Child and Adult Populations

09/08/2008 Recently released 2007 American Community Survey (ACS) poverty estimates have been updated for the 50 states, Puerto Rico and 55 large cities. Some of the newly updated indicators include:
Children in extreme poverty (50% FPL)
Children below 200% poverty
Children under age 6 in poverty
Single-parent families with related children that are below poverty
Families with related children that are below poverty

08/26/2008 The KIDS COUNT Data Center now includes state and city-level estimates released today from the U.S. Census Bureau for the following indicators:
Children in poverty
Population in poverty
Children 17 and below without health insurance
